KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has accepted the two seats allocated to it by Barisan Nasional (BN) for the Melaka state election.
Its president, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, said the decision was made after receiving assurances that the party's role in representing the Chinese community in Melaka would not be sidelined.
He said discussions among BN component parties had yielded positive results, with BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi responding positively to issues raised by MCA.
"We have been assured that the representation of the Chinese community, especially MCA will not be sidelined and continue to play a role.
