The countries went to war earlier this year and, with no permanent resolution reached on security issues, there have been sporadic attacks since a March truce.

Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of harbouring militants responsible for deadly attacks on its territory, an allegation the Taliban government in Afghanistan denies.

Homes and shops were targeted in the market town of Angoor Adda during the cross-border fire from Afghanistan, according to the office of the deputy commissioner in Pakistan's South Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
