KUALA LUMPUR: Scammers are allegedly using an AI-generated woman posing as a Datuk to lure the public into investment and charity schemes.
MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said the suspected scammers also used the identities of prominent Malaysian figures to make the woman appear credible and well-connected.
These included the prime minister and former and serving Inspectors-General of Police, whose identities were allegedly featured in Facebook posts promoting the purported Datuk.
Chong said the suspected modus operandi involved establishing trust through the woman's honorary title and apparent influential connections before attracting public interest in investment opportunities and charitable activities.
