SEPANG: Championship leader Kimi Antonelli and George Russell have vowed to put Mercedes back on track after mixed fortunes in the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia on Sunday.
A power unit failure cost Russell a podium finish in the rain-delayed race at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). He retired on lap 50 while in third place.
Antonelli, however, battled all the way with eventual champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull to finish second.
The 20-year-old Italian is fired up to fight back at the Singapore GP from Oct 9-11. The race will be held at night on the 4.927km street circuit.
"The conditions were really challenging, both with the difficult call on which tyre to start on and when to stop to take the slicks. I am pleased we were able to score solid points, but we leave Malaysia frustrated," said Antonelli.
