PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department will soon gain access to real-time data from agencies including Interpol, police, the Prisons Department and Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to help screen travellers entering and leaving the country.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the data-sharing capability would be introduced under the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe), which is gradually replacing the department's existing Malaysian Immigration System (myIMMs).
He said NIISe would strengthen early screening and traveller risk profiling while enabling real-time integration and sharing of information with multiple government agencies.
These include the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), police, Interpol, IRB, Prisons Department and Transport Ministry.
