JOHOR BARU: Foreigners caught possessing, using or buying vapes in Singapore face tougher penalties, including possible bans on re-entering the republic.

The warning follows a four-day crackdown that uncovered 50 cases and resulted in the seizure of more than 5,476 vaping devices and related components.

The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the cases were detected between Oct 26 and 29, with short-term visitors accounting for 68 per cent, while the remaining 32 per cent involved Singaporeans.

One of the biggest seizures was made at Changi Airport Terminal 4 on Oct 26, when officers flagged four arriving foreigners for further checks and found 5,272 vapes and related components in their luggage.
