KUALA LUMPUR: China's marathon record holder Feng Peiyou is eyeing the Asian marathon record and believes Malaysian runners can raise their standards with more scientific training methods.

The Zunyi native holds China's national record at 2:05:58 and won bronze in the men's marathon at the 2026 Asian Games in 2:12:13.

El Hassan El-Abbassi of Bahrain set the Asian record of 2:04:43 at the Valencia Marathon, Spain, in 2018, and Feng is just whiskers away from it based on his national record.

Feng, an Xtep Running Ambassador, said a scientific and structured approach was essential for runners seeking to improve, alongside proper nutrition, sufficient rest and a healthy daily routine.
