Contractor management failures, manpower shortages and poor planning were behind most sick projects, while six delayed projects face termination proceedings.
KUALA LUMPUR: Poor contractor management was responsible for 77% of sick projects this year, with inadequate planning, manpower shortages and weak site coordination among the main contributing factors, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said.
The remaining 23% of delays were attributed to other issues, including delays in utility relocation, land acquisition problems, limited access to construction sites, material supply constraints, rising diesel prices and technical difficulties during project implementation.
Nanta said the number of sick projects had generally declined from its peak in July, when 55 projects, or 6.51% of the total, were classified as sick.
