FIFA president Gianni Infantino could face subpoena powers and criminal consequences from US House Democrats investigating his ties to President Donald Trump following their midterm election victory.
LONDON: FIFA president Gianni Infantino could be compelled to answer questions over his ties to United States (US) President Donald Trump or face criminal consequences, after Democrats seized control of Congress in the midterm elections, PA Media/dpa reported.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee confirmed on July 26 they had launched an investigation into what they described as a “sustained campaign” by FIFA and Infantino to curry favour with President Trump, requesting Infantino submit documents and appear before the committee.
