The Election Commission confirmed that no by-election will be held for the N.04 Mata Ayer state seat following the death of its incumbent, as the assembly has crossed the three-year mark.
KANGAR: The Election Commission (EC) has received official notification from Perlis State Legislative Assembly Speaker Rus’sele Eizan on the vacancy in the Mata Ayer state seat following the death of its incumbent, Wan Badariah Wan Saad.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said that, pursuant to Clause (5) of Article 55 of the Laws of the Constitution of Perlis, the Speaker had informed the EC that the vacancy did not need to be filled as more than three years had elapsed since the current State Legislative Assembly first convened.
