KPDN WPKL says prices of essential goods in Kuala Lumpur remain stable with sufficient supply ahead of Deepavali, with some items cheaper than last year.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prices of essential goods in the capital remain under control with adequate supply ahead of Deepavali, according to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (KPDN WPKL).

KPDN WPKL director Mohd Sabri Seman said monitoring showed most controlled items recorded stable prices, with some even selling cheaper than last year.

He said 99 enforcement officers and 70 price monitoring officers have been deployed to ensure traders comply with regulations, particularly throughout the Deepavali 2026 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), which runs from Nov 4 to 10.
