Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the conditional pardon granted to Najib Razak could not be disputed as the order was issued after due process.PETALING JAYA: There is no need for the attorney-general, Dusuki Mokhtar, to meet the king and explain legal issues related to the implementation of Najib Razak’s house arrest, says Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Asyraf said the matter had been clarified by a statement from Istana Negara today calling for the implementation of the conditional pardon granted to Najib. He said the pardon decision could not be disputed as the order was issued after due process involving the pardons board, Berita Harian quoted him as saying.
The conditional pardon allowed Najib to continue serving a jail sentence under house arrest at his residence in Taman Duta, Kuala Lumpur, on settlement of a RM50 million fine. However, he remains in Kajang prison after the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) stated that legal questions had arisen from a High Court order of discharge after the fine was settled.
