KUCHING: Japanese billionaire and SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son’s interest in investing in Sarawak could open up internship and training opportunities for Sarawakians in artificial intelligence (AI), says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said one of the State’s key strategic policies that attracted Son was its commitment to providing free tertiary education to Sarawakians through State-owned universities, alongside its water resources.

Recalling his meeting with Son, who travelled from Japan to meet him, Abang Johari said the billionaire had cited these factors when explaining his interest in Sarawak.

He said the proposed internship opportunities would allow Sarawakians to receive training in emerging fields under the new economy, particularly AI.
