Sabah MACC director Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009, which involves using one’s office or position for gratification.

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a civil servant over alleged abuse of position in issuing certificates of practical completion for 15 government projects worth RM2 million involving a company owned by his family member.

A certificate of practical completion is a formal contractual document issued by an architect or superintendent to a main contractor confirming that physical construction works are substantially completed.

Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry issued a seven-day remand order against the suspect until Oct 12 after an application by MACC at the Keningau magistrates' court this morning.
