Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state government understands Putrajaya’s financial position.

GEORGE TOWN: Seven of Penang’s 10 priority projects have been accepted by the finance ministry for inclusion in the 2027 budget to be tabled on Friday, says chief minister Chow Kon Yeow.

The projects include groundwater mapping in the state, a flood mitigation project at Sungai Kelang Ubi in Bukit Mertajam, and the upgrading of electrical and mechanical infrastructure for the state's flood control system.

The other four projects are a proposed public market in Teluk Kumbar, the Penang STEM Talent Blueprint, and road upgrading works in Bukit Tambun and Permatang Tinggi.

"Some of them might be announced (on Friday). If not, the respective ministries will notify us later. Three more projects were not accepted, but the state can still propose them again," Chow said at a press conference at his office in Komtar.
