KUALA LUMPUR: Versatile host and entertainer Helmi Gimmick, 65, is grateful to be cancer-free after undergoing surgery to remove his left kidney.
Helmi—whose real name is Helmi Harun—was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer and had his left kidney removed at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital on Jan 1.
"It is all clear. The doctors have confirmed that I am cancer-free," he told Harian Metro.
Reflecting on his journey, Helmi shared how battling the disease changed his view on health, faith, and daily habits.
He admitted that his busy career in showbiz often led him to put off religious obligations.
