PARIS: Elon Musk's SpaceX is aiming to raise US$40 billion in bank loans and debt to further its purchases of AI chips from Nvidia, according to a Financial Times report citing sources close to the talks.

The massive fundraising, coming just four months after SpaceX raised US$86 billion in the world's biggest IPO, underscored the voracious demand among tech firms for chips to roll out their AI ambitions.

Neither company would comment on the report from late Wednesday, which said SpaceX was seeking US$30 billion from issuing new debt and US$10 billion in banking loans.
