The Election Commission is planning to convene a special meeting to review and discuss the representations received.

PETALING JAYA: A majority of the 133 representations received from relevant stakeholders was against the proposed electoral boundary changes in Sarawak, says the Election Commission (EC).

In a statement, EC secretary Khairul Shahril Idrus said of the total, 126 objected to the proposal, which would see the creation of 17 new state constituencies in Sarawak and increase the total number of state seats from 82 to 99.

Only seven representations from interested parties supported the proposal.

“The EC will convene a special meeting to review and discuss the representations received.”
