KUALA LUMPUR: A special committee has been proposed to study the mechanism for increasing the number of parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

Mustapha said the committee would be established under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) Technical Committee.

He said it could be jointly chaired by him and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

However, he said that the proposal was still at a preliminary stage.

"The increase in the number of Dewan Rakyat members from Sabah and Sarawak has been included on the agenda of MTPMA63 meetings and its Technical Committee meetings.
