KUALA LUMPUR: Police are uncertain if any procedural breaches took place during the viral altercation involving Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain and Travel Control Officers (TCO) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, explaining the role of the Special Branch's TCOs, said they carry out intelligence-related duties, including establishing contact with certain parties and surveillance.

"Such activities are normal aspects of their work and should not be misinterpreted before investigators had established the full circumstances of the incident," he said.

Asked if there were any standard operating procedure (SOP) breaches, Khalid said he could not confirm this at present.
