PETALING JAYA: A resurgent Lee Zii Jia put up another spirited display at the Arctic Open, defeating a higher-ranked Taiwanese player to advance to the quarter-finals of the World Tour Super 500 badminton championships.
The world No 56 men’s singles shuttler beat Su Li Yang, who is ranked 17 slots above him, 21-17, 21-12 in a match lasting 46 minutes at Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.
Zii Jia has a tough last-eight match tomorrow against France's world No 2 shuttler Christo Popov.
Yesterday, Zii Jia scored an impressive opening round win over China’s 40th-ranked Dong Tian Yao in straight games.
