IPOH, Oct 16 — Two sisters were killed after being trapped in a fire that destroyed two adjoining double-storey houses in Kampung Koh, near Sitiawan, today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the two sisters were aged 15 and 18.

Sayani said the department received an emergency call at 9.01am, and personnel from the Sitiawan and Seri Manjung fire and rescue stations, as well as the Pantai Remis Volunteer Fire Brigade, arrived at the scene at 9.10am.

“They found the blaze involved two adjoining Class C houses measuring 40ft by 70ft each, which were almost 90 per cent destroyed, with the two sisters trapped inside,” she said in a statement today, adding that the fire also destroyed four vehicles and a motorcycle.
