KUCHING, Oct 3: Politics in Mukah’s rural communities is less about political rhetoric and more about fixing potholes, ensuring every household has water and electricity, and providing young people with reliable internet access.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said rural politics was less about political rhetoric and more about addressing the day-to-day needs of communities.
“Indeed, politics in our rural areas is not particularly loud. Our politics revolves around how to repair potholes and how to ensure every house has electricity and water supply.
“Lately, our politics has revolved around meeting the needs of young people to have reliable internet access,” he said during a dinner with community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) of the Mukah Division last night (Oct 2), which was broadcast live by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on Facebook.
