KUALA LUMPUR: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says that he and his bride-to-be, Bella Astillah, cannot be compared to Malaysia's famous power couple, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his late wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
Responding to online comments linking his romance to the long-standing relationship of the elder couple, Syed Saddiq stressed that any comparison falls far short, given their incredible legacy and seven decades together.
"I feel we are not worthy of being compared to Dr Siti Hasmah and Dr Mahathir. Not even close, not even one per cent, because their contributions to the country are truly extraordinary," he said.
He pointed out Dr Siti Hasmah's work as a pioneer, especially her medical service in rural areas and her role in inspiring women.
