KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is closely monitoring the situation in France to ensure the safety and welfare of its 242 sponsored students amid ongoing unrest.
Mara deputy director-general (education) Zahari Aziz said all 242 students were safe based on the latest reports from student representatives at their universities, with none reported involved in the unrest.
"Academic activities are continuing as usual. In areas experiencing public transport disruptions, the universities have taken appropriate measures to conduct classes online," he said in a statement today.
He said Mara, through its overseas office in Frankfurt, Germany, remained in close contact with the students and reminded them to stay alert and avoid demonstration areas.
