Meta faced a possible breach of the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), which aims to limit the market power of large digital companies. (File pic)BERLIN: The German Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) and the Media Association of the Free Press (MVFP) have called on the European Commission to examine and, for now, halt a planned change to the terms of service of Facebook parent company Meta.
The change is due to take effect on Oct 30 for business customers, reported German news agency dpa.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, the associations said that Meta wants to be able to automatically search, store and analyse not only content that publishers post on Facebook or Instagram, but also the websites linked to those posts. This would affect articles, archives, images and videos, they said.
