KUCHING, Oct 23: Eight foreign men aged between 19 and 38 have been arrested following a police raid on a residence along Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli here, believed to have been used as a call centre for online gambling scams.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the raid was conducted by a team of officers and personnel from the Kuching District Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department at about 2.47am today.
Police also seized computer equipment, mobile phones and related devices believed to have been used to operate the fraudulent call centre.
“Preliminary investigations found that the syndicate allegedly operated an online gambling scam involving non-existent gambling games, targeting victims in neighbouring countries.
