PUTRAJAYA: Future urban development must balance technological advancement with the preservation of national heritage and identity to create comfortable, sustainable and climate-resilient cities.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said traditional design principles could be combined with modern technology to build homes better suited to local conditions, including hot weather and flood risks.
"Building the cities of the future does not mean setting aside our heritage and history. Instead, traditional design wisdom can be combined with modern technology to create homes that are more comfortable and resilient to hot weather and flood risks," he said at the national-level World Habitat Day celebration here today.
