KUALA LUMPUR: Independent men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia advanced to the Hylo Open last 16 today after a hard-fought opening victory.
World No. 42 Zii Jia edged Singapore's world No. 33 Jason Teh 21-16, 19-21, 21-17 in their first-round clash at the Saarlandhalle Indoor Arena.
The win also avenged his first-round defeat to Teh at the Swiss Open in March, in their only previous career meeting.
The Malaysian is seeking his first title in two years, having last won at the Australian Open in 2024.
