(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Pollution in Sungai Kim Kim, Pasir Gudang, Johor, which turned the water white and cloudy, is believed to have been caused by excavation work for cable installation.
State health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the information was based on further investigations conducted by the environment department (DoE) today.
“A cable installation work was carried out yesterday at about 3pm,” Bernama quoted him as saying in a Facebook post, adding that the excavation went down to a depth of about 5m.
Earlier, DoE director Famey Yusoff said enforcement officers inspected the site at about 6pm yesterday following a complaint over the discolouration.
