KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of B15 biodiesel reduced Malaysia's average petroleum diesel consumption by 20,410 tonnes a month between June and August 2026.

Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad said the reduction had helped lower the country's dependence on petroleum-based fuel.

She said Malaysia's position as one of the world's leading palm oil producers provided an advantage in terms of raw material availability to support the continued use of biodiesel.

"From an economic and energy security perspective, the use of locally produced biodiesel can also reduce the country's exposure to fluctuations in global petroleum diesel prices, particularly during periods of geopolitical tension.
