(Rawpixel pic)KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained 18 Taiwanese nationals suspected of impersonating Hong Kong police in an online scam syndicate. They were detained after raids on two luxury apartments here on Thursday.
Dang Wangi police chief Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin said 17 men and one woman, aged between 19 and 43, were arrested. "Police seized 69 mobile phones, five laptop computers, and two sets of Hong Kong police uniforms," he said in a statement today.
He said the syndicate members were suspected posing as Hong Kong police officers to target their victims in Hong Kong over the past five months.
