KUALA LUMPUR: Just days after being named alongside Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay in a newly revamped FA of Malaysia (FAM) integrity panel, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has declined the role.

The Malaysia Checkpoints and Border Agency (AKPS) director-general, who was appointed as deputy chairman of the FAM integrity committee, cited pressing official duties and the heavy demands of helming the nation's unified border security command as his reason.

FAM confirmed the matter in a statement on Monday, putting an end to what would have been a high-profile return for Shuhaily to the national football body's integrity watchdog.

The governing body stressed that it fully accepted his decision while expressing gratitude for his willingness to assist in cleaning up the local game.
