KUALA LUMPUR: Schools should not conceal incidents merely to protect their reputation, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said following the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Yong Peng, Johor.
He said close cooperation between police and schools was critical to ensuring incidents involving students were brought to the authorities' attention quickly.
"There may sometimes be actions by certain parties to hide issues in order to protect the reputation of certain parties.
"But I believe if we strengthen and improve this relationship, it can help us resolve problems," he said at Bukit Aman today.
Khalid was responding to questions about school security following the Yong Peng case.
