WUHU, China: Chery Automobile Co Ltd is shifting gears in its global expansion strategy, with locally manufactured vehicles set to account for more than half of overseas sales next year.
Executive vice president Zhang Guibing said the target reflects its shift from exporting cars to building a global manufacturing and technology ecosystem.
He said locally produced vehicles were expected to account for more than 50 per cent of overseas sales by end-2026, up from a projected average of more than 48 per cent.
The strategy includes expanding manufacturing, research and development (R&D) and supply chains in overseas markets, while strengthening partnerships with local businesses.
