MELAKA: The armed forces are closely monitoring and preventing cyber threats to ensure they are dealt with effectively, safeguarding the country's security and sovereignty.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the military's preparedness was being continuously enhanced as cyber intrusions and attacks had become a real and daily threat.
"We face cyber threats every day. We are constantly monitoring and preventing them while ensuring our military preparedness.
"We will strengthen our capabilities. That is why we have proposed establishing a fourth branch of the armed forces, namely the cyber branch, which will be more robust and focused.
