STUDENTS from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) secured seven medals and four Diploma Awards at the Battle of the Chefs 2026, showcasing their culinary skills against aspiring and professional chefs from various backgrounds.

The international competition, organised by the Penang Chefs Association, was held at Setia SPICE Arena from Oct 21 to 24, with participants competing across various culinary categories.

Students from TAR UMT’s Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Sabah campuses recorded notable achievements, including a gold medal in the freestyle fresh pasta category.

Leading the university’s performance was Diploma in Culinary Arts student Janice Liew Zhee Hui from its Perak branch, who clinched gold in the GH21 Toffi Hot Fresh Pasta Dish Challenge (Freestyle).
