KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will take stern action if false trade descriptions were used in the alleged sale of non-halal chicken in Puchong, Selangor.
Its minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said the ministry focuses on halal labelling at the retail level to ensure marketed products originate from certified and halal sources.
"The ministry's responsibility in that context is halal labelling, which falls under our jurisdiction.
"When products are marketed at the retail level with halal labelling, we verify whether they truly come from a halal source. If there are false trade descriptions, we will take action," he said at a press conference after officiating the Tealive Sparkling Crafted Tea-Prebiotic Soda launch here today.
