PETALING JAYA: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Yayasan Aman are planning to establish an academic research platform named after former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in recognition of her contributions to women’s welfare and national development.

The proposal was formalised through a Letter of Intent (LOI) signed by both parties at UKM on Nov 5, 2026. The platform will be established under the Institute of the Malay World and Civilisation (ATMA), although its final structure and details have yet to be determined.

Yayasan Aman has pledged RM1 million to support the initiative, which aims to provide a dedicated avenue for research into the contributions of women in the Malay World to society, national development and civilisation.
