THAT 213 Malaysians were arrested overseas since 2024 for alleged involvement as drug mules should be a sobering message for the country to take this matter far more seriously.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah has told the Dewan Rakyat that drug-trafficking syndicates are targeting young people, including students and graduates, with irresistible financial and material incentives.
These syndicates must know their targets are particularly susceptible to inducements for what may appear to be harmless and routine tasks as human couriers.
Social media also makes it all the more easier for drug traffickers to reach out to potential victims, exploiting their gullibility and naivety.
