KUALA LUMPUR: The youth and sports minister should seek advice from experienced athletes before taking action against sports bodies, Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah said today.

Puah said there were concerns about "absolute power" being given to the minister under the proposed Section 41A of the Sports Development (Amendment) Bill 2026 to declare a sports body unlawful and revoke its registration.

He suggested that the minister seek the views of experienced athletes, citing badminton great Lee Chong Wei and squash champion Nicol David as examples.
