PETALING JAYA: There are around 40.77 million registered vehicles in Malaysia, of which 26.6 million or about 65.3% are active, says transport minister Loke Siew Fook.

In a written parliamentary reply, Loke said this was about a two million increase compared with the 38.7 million vehicles registered at the end of 2024.

He said some 1.62 million new vehicles were registered in 2025, including 847,000 cars and 703,000 motorcycles.

"Of the 26.6 million active vehicles, nearly 16 million are cars and 9.57 million are motorcycles," he said when replying to a question from Zahari Kechik (PN-Jeli).
