PETALING JAYA: The domestic trade and cost of living ministry has launched a fund to help local companies cover the cost of professional intellectual property (IP) valuation services, with a pilot allocation of RM1 million.

Its minister, Armizan Mohd Ali, said the fund was one of two initiatives launched today by his ministry through the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO).

“This is particularly important for technology-based startups and small and medium-sized enterprises with valuable IP assets that face difficulties obtaining financing because they lack traditional physical collateral,” he said in a statement.
