Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong called for a debate on the haze, saying the situation is worsening and involves more than one ministry.

KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Ramli Nor has given a government backbencher two days to refile a motion to debate the worsening haze, a day after the proposal was rejected by the lower house.

Ramli said that on a personal level, he agreed with Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka), who asked him to reconsider the motion, that the haze is an important issue.

"We face health-related issues, while schools are forced to close.

"And if the speaker agrees, I agree, too," Ramli said, referring to Johari Abdul.
