KUCHING (Oct 2): The Council for Native Customs and Traditions Sarawak (MAIS) and Persatuan Pewaris Adat Asal Singai are exploring collaboration to document the traditional attire of the Bidayuh Singai community.

The proposed partnership includes research and publication of a book on Bidayuh Singai traditional attire titled ‘Pikokas Asal Boris Duoh Sigar Bisingai’, according to a press release.

MAIS chief Datu Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat said the documentation was vital in enriching knowledge on traditional attire in Sarawak and ensuring such knowledge could be passed on to future generations.

“The proposal also provides an avenue for Mais and Persatuan Pewaris Adat Asal Singai to work together in documenting the knowledge, culture, traditions and history of the Bidayuh Singai community for future reference,” he said following a courtesy call from the association at MAIS’ office in Kota Samarahan on Wednesday.
