KOTA KINABALU: The late Zara Qairina Mahathir's mother, Noraidah Lamat, told the Coroner's Court today that she did not believe her daughter had died by suicide.

She said this when lawyer Datuk Ram Singh asked whether Zara's death could have been a suicide, citing expert evidence suggesting that she had not been pushed and that her fall could have been voluntary.

"I do not believe so," Noraidah, 46, replied during questioning by Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.

Ram also referred to Noraidah's witness statement, in which she said Zara had not shown any signs of stress before the incident.

Ram suggested that Zara might have been experiencing stress without showing it to her mother.
