BALIK PULAU: A lorry driver and two Indian men working as cooks were fined RM7,000 each by the magistrate's court here today after pleading guilty to stealing 30,000 integrated circuit chips worth RM2 million from a factory in Bayan Lepas last month.

Magistrate Chia Huey Ting ordered B. Rashkumar, 35, G. Ilayaraja, 24, and V. Sivakumar, 25, to serve one year in prison if they fail to pay the fine.

According to the charge, the three men jointly stole 30,000 integrated circuit chips at the Elite Electronic Product Services (M) Sdn Bhd factory along Persiaran Bayan Lepas at 7.30am on Sept 20.

They were charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
