LETTERS: The worsening haze situation is a serious public health concern that demands urgent, coordinated and decisive action.

While the government's efforts to engage the relevant authorities and neighbouring countries are acknowledged, these efforts must translate into tangible results to protect Malaysians from prolonged exposure to polluted air.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong's call to prioritise students' health and safety, including closing schools in affected areas, underscores the seriousness of the situation.

Protecting our children, senior citizens and those with respiratory illnesses must remain our immediate priority.

However, school closures alone are not enough. The authorities must continuously monitor air quality, issue timely public health advisories and ensure that appropriate precautionary measures are taken in workplaces and public spaces.
