(Instagram pic)PETALING JAYA: Celebrity chef Redzuawan Ismail, better known as Chef Wan, said his great-grandfather was a Kuching pioneer and prominent merchant Ong Tiang Swee.
Chef Wan made the revelation in a series of Instagram posts during a visit to the Chinese History Museum in Sarawak’s capital.
“Just imagine, this is my great-grandfather, Ong Tiang Swee. These are all the pioneers and community leaders,” he said, adding that Ong was his maternal grandmother’s father.
Chef Wan said his great-grandfather, who has a road named after him in the capital, died in Kuching in 1950 and was accorded a state funeral.
