KUALA LUMPUR: The Great Wall stood firm as a battling Malaysia were unable to stop China from clinching their 16th Suhandinata Cup with a 2-1 victory in the World Junior Team Championship final in Cairo on Saturday.
Malaysia, whose solitary title came in 2011, suffered a 55-46, 53-55, 55-45 defeat against China at the Cairo International Stadium.
In the first game, girls' singles shuttler Saidatul Muhammad went down 11-5 to Yin Yi Qing, while Tiew Wei Jie failed to contain Luo Jing Yu in the boys' singles as China stretched their lead to 22-13.
Girls' pair Low Zi Yu-Genevie Lim could do little as Shi Si Chen-Wei Yue Yue extended China's advantage to 33-18.
